Thank You for your application to book Hyde Festival Theatre
You have been directed to this page by the secretary of the theatre.
Here, you will be able to complete your booking forms. Please read this page carefully and complete information as accurately as possible.
Only once the booking forms are received and we have met you (if you are not a new organisation) will we consider your application to book the theatre. Once complete, you will be sent an invoice for your bond that must be paid within 14 days. Only once payment is received, will your booking be confirmed.
Hiring the theatre costs a daily charge plus gas and electricity consumption, charged at the current rate.
You may also be subject to additional PRS re-charges the theatre must pay on your behalf. The prices are reviewed every year at our October AGM and can be adjusted at this time for the following year.
Handover days:
At the start of your hire period, you must be at the theatre for 12.00pm for a handover with all of your appointed persons and keyholders. Your hire period will start from 1.00pm. On your get out day, you must vacate the building by 11am on the Sunday morning so a handback meeting takes place from 11.00am-12.00pm
You must vacate The Madge Bayes Hall on Sunday afternoons from 5.30pm.
Two Sets of keys are available to hirers of the building. Both key holders must be present at the Handover in order to claim a set each. We also recommend you to bring along the following individuals to your handover meeting: Stage Manager, Safe Guarding Lead/Back of House Manager and your Technical Manager. This is because many policies and procedures have changed at the theatre and we need to ensure everyone knows the new ways of working.
In addition, all of your cast, crew, chaperones and front of house teams over the age of 14 must watch the Health and Safety Video as soon as possible. This can either be beforehand from our website or when they first arrive into the theatre on the Madge Bayes Hall TV. The overall person in charge will be responsible for signing confirmation to confirm every person has watched and understood this video.
In addition, the Confidential Appointed Persons information should be read in private by:
The Stage Manager, Front of House Manager, Bar Manager, Safeguarding lead and the Fire Controller (usually the person in overall charge) – This can be read in the handover meeting and must not be shown to cast and crew members.
STAGE: The Stage measures 27ft wide by 14ft in Depth. HFA does have black tabs available for you to use and black flats. You may paint the flats to suit your set, but flats and stage must be painted back to black and dry before your get out handover. All items must be moved back to where you found them. Stage brushes can be found on stage. Mops are stored in the cleaning stations – please use the correct coloured tools to the correct area. The theatre provides black paint for the stage should you wish to repaint it (allow for time in your hire period for this)
CLEANING: The theatre will be cleaned at either end of your hire period. The auditorium and public areas will be cleaned daily between your performance days. You are responsible for cleaning the dressing rooms, dressing room corridor, rear stairwell and stage throughout your hire period. Please use the brushes, mops and hoovers provided in the cleaning stations. All rubbish must be taken away with you. The theatre front of house staff will clean the auditorium between shows. You will also need to put the tables and chairs away and sweep the Madge Bayes Hall floor after your final performance.
If you are using any form of script/show under a licence, you are responsible for ensuring all your fees are paid for your performances. HFA is not responsible for these licences under any circumstances. The licence must be displayed in accordance with your terms and conditions in the box office. Anyone found breaching this may have their show cancelled by order of any HFA officer on behalf of the committee, without refund. A copy of this must also be sent to the secretary prior to your handover.
If you have any performances involving children, you are required to submit a child performance licence request, body of persons exemption or equivalent to Tameside MBC. This is the hirers responsibility and must be completed and authorised before your hire period. A copy of this must be displayed in the box office and a copy must be sent to the secretary beforehand. HFA have the right to cancel your show, without refund, should this licence not be complete prior to your handover.
